Dr. Ovais Khalid, M.D., completed his residency in psychiatry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La., in 2013 in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.
He received his board certification in psychiatry and neurology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2013, was awarded a Fellowship of the American Psychiatric Association in 2015, and was certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons in 2019. At LSU-HSC, he earned several awards, including the “Competency Award” for excellence in professionalism and medical knowledge and the “Psychiatry Scholar Award” for outstanding academic and research publications.
Dr. Khalid is a member of the Maryland Psychiatric Society, the American Psychiatry Association, the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association, and the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology.
In previous years, Dr. Khalid has published an impressive amount of research. While attending Rawalpindi Medical College, he helped organize the Second International Conference of GI and Hepatology in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He was also a dedicated member of a social welfare organization, the Students’ Federation for Poor Patients, and an organizer of the Emergency Blood Bank.
Dr. Khalid is proficient in English, Urdu, and Hindi.
